Specialist doctors have affirmed that early detection of breast cancer effectively contributes to optimizing the therapeutic process and avoiding complications in women suffering from this disease. During a scientific meeting organized on Saturday in Algiers by the Algerian Women’s Forum Foundation (AWF) as part of the month of Pink October, speakers indicated that early detection of breast cancer effectively contributes to optimizing the therapeutic protocol and avoiding complications of the disease, emphasizing the importance of using new technologies in this area, such as artificial intelligence. (AI). On this occasion, the main stages of the treatment provided by hospitals were presented, emphasizing the importance of expanding awareness campaigns for early detection of breast cancer, notably through coordination between the two public and private sectors, in order to improve the care of women suffering from this disease before its complication, according to Professor Asma Kerboua, from the “Pierre and Marie Curie” cancer hospital. in Algiers. The head of the department of the biological laboratory of the University Hospital Establishment (EHU) Hassani Issaad of Béni Messous, Professor Reda Djidjik, underlined the importance of using new technologies for the digitization of patient files and coordination between specialists, for better awareness and in order to encourage women, particularly in rural areas, to early detection. With the aim of bringing health closer to the citizen and taking into account the availability of general practitioners in local health establishments, the participants called for strengthening training in this area to contribute to the early diagnosis of the disease throughout the national territory, emphasizing the need to take advantage of new technologies and adapt to developments recorded in this area.
They consider it necessary to encourage women aged over 40 to have screening exams, to avoid complications of the disease and reduce treatment costs. As for the socio-psychological care of patients, Professor Hamida Guendouz, breast surgeon at the “Pierre and Marie Curie” establishment, considers it necessary to provide university training for psychologists, to enable them to support cancer patients during the stages of treatment.
