Combating the challenges inherent in the fight against narcotics in their various forms

On a working visit to the United States of America, the Director General of National Security, Ali Bedaoui, and the delegation of senior executives of the DGSN, who accompanied him, met with the head of the Anti-Drug Department of New York, with which, indicated, the day before yesterday Thursday, a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), they discussed the ways and means of bilateral cooperation in the fight against the challenges inherent in the fight against narcotics, in their various forms.
“Continuing the working visit he is making to the United States of America (USA), the DSGN as well as the delegation accompanying him, met the head of the Anti-Drug Department of New York, with whom they spent review the ways and means of cooperation with the specialized devices of the DGSN, able to face the challenges inherent in the fight against narcotics, in all their forms, including synthetic drugs and cannabis resin,” specifies the same source.
The Algerian delegation, continued the DGSN press release, went to the various departments of the laboratory for the chemical analysis of narcotics under the said Department, where it received further explanations given by experts in the field, around the equipment and methods of chemical analysis of narcotics. And at the headquarters of the New York Police, where an exchange of experiences and views took place around the security challenges facing the police in the two countries in the areas of urban security, public security, tunnel transport and securing major events.
The DSGN as well as the delegation accompanying it, noted the same source, also visited the border police services (PAF) between the USA and Canada.
“The meetings with those responsible for border crossings made it possible to inquire about the means used and the procedures for controlling the border movement of people, vehicles and goods, as well as modern mechanisms for exchanging information, with a view to “ensure border security,” added the DGSN press release.
This working visit to the United States is part of the Algerian-American bilateral cooperation to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise and experiences in the fight against cross-border organized crime and to inquire about the latest modes and operational tactics put in place in the fight against crime, notes the same source, adding that on this occasion the DGSN held a meeting with the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), James Smith, with whom he discussed the different challenges and police issues, in the presence of the Algerian ambassador to Washington and the US ambassador to Algeria.
