As an extension of the decisions made by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during the meeting on August 26, a ministerial meeting was held on Tuesday at the government palace, under the presidency of the acting Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb. It is a question of defining the operational mechanisms of the import of 10,000 new buses intended for the transport of passengers, in order to modernize the National Park and replace the dilapidated vehicles.

This meeting has brought together several key ministerial sectors, including those in national defense, industry, transport, knowledge economy, as well as start-ups and micro-enterprises. It was a question of fixing the final procedures relating to the import, the local manufacturing, the marketing and the financing of these new buses.

This vast operation, announced as a national priority, aims to respond to a double imperative, is this improving the quality of the public transport service, which has become insufficient in the face of demographic and urban growth, and stimulating the economy through the involvement of local industry and specialized start-ups.

This project is part of a broader vision of modernization of public transport, including the safety of users, the reduction of the environmental footprint and the improvement of mobility in large agglomerations.
