Le Maroc délaisse la « carte de la honte » – Le Jeune Indépendant

Friday evening, it was with a low profile that those responsible for Moroccan football, unlike their selection which did the job well by winning without problems and above all sportingly against the Greens not yet ready for this type of challenge, by presenting themselves in the stand of dishonor in a sports venue, that of Berkane transformed into a low-level political arena, in their little shoes.

Our cadets were finally beaten largely (4-0) by Morocco in the first leg of the 3rd and penultimate qualifying round for the next World Cup in the category (U17), played Friday evening at the municipal stadium of… Berkane. As if by chance. Defeated all the same but not subject to challenge.

Defeat on a sporting level but victory on a political level, since the little “lionesses” of the Atlas presented themselves on the field with jerseys without the controversial map.

A confirmation after the technical meeting held the day before the match which saw Morocco, completely ashamed, give up (a nice way, isn’t it, to reconsider and forget this story of national sovereignty concerning the occupied territories of Western Sahara quite simply for its shameful claim as was the case during the double confrontation (which never took place) on behalf of the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup, between USM Alger and RS Berkane .

The case has just landed on the offices of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a clear but confirmed trend on future sanctions affecting both the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, represented by its sulphurous president, Fawzi Lekjaâ, and CAF , under the influence of the latter and guilty in particular of flouting its own laws and regulations. Particularly regarding respect for the separation of sport from politics.

We therefore had to wait until Thursday and this famous technical meeting and the presentation of the jerseys of the two selections, to remove the last doubts as to the progress of a meeting over which hovered the possibility of a pure and simple withdrawal of the Algerian selection in the event where the FRMF and its boss, puffing out their chests and believing themselves to be in a position of strength because of the submission of the No. 1 of the CAF, a Motsepe under influence, would persist in doing it again by persisting in the error.

By opting on the occasion, and it was expected at the turn, for a non-regulatory outfit flocked with a map of the kingdom including these same territories as a political slogan as the texts and regulations of the CAF (well, well!) and of FIFA expressly prohibit.

A suprise ? For no one. Except for the henchmen of the Makhzen and their relays within a Confederation from which unmistakable signs are coming, that a strong wind of protest is blowing in the wrong direction than that desired by “elected officials” having definitively lost what remained of their credibility as scandals multiply.

Anything but a surprise, the Moroccans, so confident in this “affair” fabricated to harm Algeria, suddenly returned to a better “status”, that which is theirs, by realizing that Fifa has nothing to do with the continental body that they control using unsporting methods that are liable to international jurisdiction. Lekjaâ who goes backwards and backpedals, denying his principles for fear of serious repercussions even though he prides himself on being able to count on powerful support in Gianni Infantino’s glass house.

Strict respect for the laws in force, this is the lesson that we can learn from this episode where an omnipotent man but who came out of nowhere before becoming powerful, championed the violation of regulations, throwing away every day a little more discredit on a confederation and the puppets who “govern” it.

Algeria has certainly lost two sporting battles with the “incapacitation” of the outgoing CAF champion, the USMA, following an unnamed scam, while of course awaiting the verdict of the CAS, and the heavy fall of our cadets betrayed by their inexperience, but emerges politically victorious by confusing Mr. Lekjaâ, in free fall, and his lackeys at CAF which he controls from Rabat with vile procedures. The series is not over. . .
