A ministerial circular from the Ministry of National Education relating to the educational evaluation of the three levels of school education (primary, middle and secondary) for the 2025/2026 school year specified, yesterday Wednesday, that middle education students will take a single written test supervised per subject and per term, this was noted in a press release from the authority. Also, the same ministerial circular underlined the need to correct the copies in the presence of students and the administration and the correction must be completed at least one week before the start of the semester exams, the same source indicated yesterday.
It further specifies that the tests must not be scheduled during a week when the establishment is closed. In turn, reports the ministerial circular, the school administration, in coordination with teachers, is called upon to establish a homework schedule, while ensuring that there are no more than two homework assignments per day.
“The grades from the continuous assessment are recorded on the student’s report card, accompanied by a detailed report, allowing the parents of the students to follow the progress of their children,” we read in the press release from the Ministry of National Education.
As for the final exams, they take place according to the previously established schedule, specifies the ministerial circular and linked by a press release from the supervisory authority.
Students and their parents must be informed of this schedule, and the subjects of the end-of-term exams are standardized for all subjects and all academic levels in each school to guarantee equal opportunities for all students, notes the circular.
Furthermore, the ministerial text urges that the evaluation of students’ activities in college, in class and out of class, is based on: discipline and punctuality, attendance, good behavior, the provision of school kit, monitoring of the completion of activities, oral and written questions, homework and research projects, be done according to the school calendar.
Concerning the teacher’s contribution, the ministerial circular requires the student to be awarded a numerical grade for these activities, accompanied by a qualitative observation highlighting the strong points or identifying the difficulties encountered and possible solutions, this is what the supervisory press release mentioned yesterday Wednesday.
Also, adds the circular, the teacher keeps a continuous evaluation register to explain and justify the grades awarded to students; this register can be consulted if necessary and it is controlled by the school director and the Academy inspector.
On the other hand, and concerning primary school students and more precisely the first school year, must be evaluated during the first trimester, invoked the supervision.
Also, the Ministry of National Education announced in its circular yesterday that the evaluation of the learning of first year primary school students in the first quarter will be done through descriptive and qualitative observations.
These observations, continues the ministry press release, will make it possible to assess the level of acquisition of fundamental skills in each subject, as well as the difficulties encountered by students in the first school year in adapting to the different learning requirements and actively participating in them.
In accordance with the ministerial circular relating to educational evaluation at the three levels of education for the 2025/2026 school year, the transition to the second year of primary school will be automatic for any student who has regularly followed first year courses, concludes the press release from the Ministry of National Education.
