It is a barbaric genocide by famine. It is the barbaric weapon that Israel uses and has abused for months on civilians still alive in the Enclave de Gaza. For several months, Algeria has continued to denounce this tragedy perpetrated voluntarily by the Zionist hordes, calling on the international community to take responsibility, to respect its values and its ethics but above all to react urgently to save human lives.
At a meeting of the United Nations Security Council devoted the day before yesterday to the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, the permanent ambassador of Algeria with the UN, Amar Bendjama, pleaded for a rapid and lasting solution to this situation, accusing the Israeli occupation of deliberately hindering access to humanitarian aid.
“What has entered Gaza in terms of help represents only a drop of water in an ocean of needs,” said the Algerian diplomat, demanding from the Zionist entity that it opens “all the ways of passage, all the roads and all the arteries of life” to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Bendjama has castigated the Israeli occupant’s refusal to recognize the existence of famine in the Gaza Strip, “even though he is the one who cut food, water, electricity and drugs”, recalling that the United Nations experts had recently accused such Aviv to commit crimes with regard to the status of Rome, in particular “a genocide by famine”.
In his plea, the representative of Algeria at the UN underlined the ineffectiveness of air lagages, believing that “it is not from the sky that a people are nourished when the earth is closed under their feet”, insisting on the legal nature of humanitarian access, which is “a legal commitment to the Geneva conventions, not a favor, even less a currency for prisoners”.
True to its position of principle, Algeria “does not remain its arms crossed in the face of human suffering,” said Bendjama. He reaffirmed that “the call of humanity is not a choice but a sacred duty”, recalling that “every human being, whatever their color, belief or nationality, deserves to live with dignity”.
“What we ask for the Palestinian people, we ask for it for all peoples,” said the ambassador, denouncing in the process the use of “standards with variable geometry”.
In this regard, the Algerian diplomat presented to the members of the assembly terrifying images of hunger Palestinian children in Gaza, victims of the imposed Zionist headquarters. “What the world sees today is no coincidence, it is methodical, it is a genocide,” he accused. He condemned the voices that persist in denying evidence, despite the overwhelming testimonies of humanitarian workers on the ground.
At the end of his intervention, Mr. Bendjama challenged the international community by wondering: “What will future generations say?” Where were you when Gaza died of hunger? When did children die by looking for bread? When has an entire people have been crushed in the name of security? ».
According to Amar Bendjama, “injustice should not become the new standard”, calling for “an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to save lives, save hope and save dreams that have not yet been dreamed of”.
