The bill establishing the status of the judiciary approved

During its meeting yesterday, Sunday, chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Council of Ministers approved the organic bill establishing the status of the judiciary, in accordance with the commitment made by the President of the Republic to judges during the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 judicial year last Thursday, at the Court of Algiers, taking into account the following directives: grant the greatest importance to the social status of judges, particularly in matters of retirement and housing benefits; the need for qualified judges to complete a period of practical training, determined by the organization of the judicial sector, before taking office. The President of the Republic instructed the Government to adopt the system of specialized judicial centers, because it constitutes the optimal framework for judicial practice, allowing judges to benefit from advanced practical training to advance justice.
Concerning the monitoring of the location and construction of seawater desalination plants, after study and discussion, the Council of Ministers approved the location of three seawater desalination plants in the wilayas of Chlef, Mostaganem and Tlemcen. Each factory will produce 300,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day. The location of the other three factories will be decided at the next meetings of the Council of Ministers.
The President of the Republic warned against the effects of drought, ordering the carrying out of precise scientific studies taking into account the real rates and figures of drinking water consumption, taking into account the specificities of each region, particularly in terms of rainfall.
These studies must be accurate and forward-looking to protect the State from the risks of environmental disasters, including groundwater depletion, which could compromise water security. There is a need for immediate and definitive action to repair all sources of water leaks, which are causing significant losses to the national drinking water supply and affecting the distribution of this vital resource.
Regarding the preparations for the 4th edition of the Conference of African Start-ups, the President of the Republic stressed the need for the success of the next Conference of African Start-ups in Algeria, because this conference is a continuation of the recommendations of the Intra-African Trade Fair.
President Tebboune said that the ultimate objective of this event is to place African youth at the center of concerns for the implementation of the road map and the establishment of a stable and lasting bridge of communication between young people from all African countries. The President called for the creation of the best conditions for the success of this economic event for African youth. The Council of Ministers concluded with the approval of decisions, including appointments and terminations of senior positions and jobs within the state.
As a reminder, the meeting of the Council of Ministers was devoted to an organic bill establishing the status of the judiciary, to monitoring the location and construction of seawater desalination stations, in accordance with the guidelines of the previous Council of Ministers, as well as to presentations, in particular concerning the preparations for the 4th edition of the African Start-ups Conference.
