The role of the ANP

In their interventions during the parliamentary day on “Cohesion of the people with their Army, strength and stability for the Nation, Army-Nation link”, the participants called for the need to “preserve this historical and perpetual cohesion which contributes to the maintenance of stability and unity of the homeland”, specifying that this was part of the “preservation of the oath of martyrs and mujahideen”. They also stressed the importance of “strengthening national unity and consolidating the internal front” by “rejecting all causes of division and disagreement between the components of society to face the various challenges”, highlighting highlights “the great role of the National People’s Army (ANP), worthy heir of the National Liberation Army (ALN), in the protection of the homeland”, in addition to its “effective contribution to socio-economic development”.

The participants affirmed their support for the efforts of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to “raise the voice of Algeria loudly and propel it towards progress, security and stability”, welcoming the decision of the President of the Republic to establish February 22 each year as the National Day of Brotherhood and Army-People Cohesion, as well as its unwavering positions in the defense of just causes, at the head of which are the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes. Communications around the theme of the meeting in its different aspects were presented by professors and experts, covering, among other things, “The historical context of the Army-Nation link, the accomplishment of the military institution of its constitutional missions , in the light of eternal cohesion with the Algerian people”, “the cohesion of the Algerian people with their Army, in strengthening the process of the new Algeria” and “the orientations of the military institution to achieve overall security on the basis of current geopolitical changes.

As a reminder, in February 2020, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune decreed February 22 of each year “National Day of Fraternity and Cohesion between the people and their army for democracy”. The Decree signed by President Tebboune was announced during his periodic interview with the national media. We know that this Decree stipulates that the day of February 22 will immortalize the historic start of the people that occurred on February 22, 2019 and will be celebrated throughout the national territory, through demonstrations and activities capable of strengthening the bonds of fraternity and of national cohesion and to anchor the spirit of solidarity between the people and their Army for Democracy.
