Le savoir-faire des start-up sollicité – Le Jeune Indépendant

The improvement in the performance of the energy sector, given its predominant place in the national economy, is linked to the contribution of start-ups and the development of innovation. This is what the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, said this Saturday in Algiers.

During his speech on the occasion of a study day on innovation in the energy and mining sector, Mr. Arkab stressed the need to improve the performance of the energy sector. This cannot be achieved without the contribution of start-ups in this process, he said.

The minister also highlighted the investment opportunities offered by the energy sector, which are “very ambitious and concern several areas”. They concern several areas and offer numerous possibilities, in particular the renovation of our country’s hydrocarbon and mineral reserves, the strengthening of production capacities and the valorization of these raw materials, as well as the optimal exploitation of energy resources.

In this regard, the same manager affirmed that “start-ups can find innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of renewable energies”, through the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.

In the same sense, Mr. Arkab stressed that these start-ups can also contribute, with their applications and programs, to rationalizing energy consumption, analyzing data and offering energy efficiency consulting services, in addition to to strengthen the production, transport and distribution infrastructures of electricity and gas, in particular by linking the North to the South and by connecting homes and various operators, whether investors or farmers or those located in remote areas.

To make these projects a reality, the minister highlighted the need to introduce modern technologies, innovative solutions and digitalization through start-ups “on which we are counting, in order to help economic companies develop their ecosystem. “technological innovation and to manufacture the necessary equipment and spare parts, which are currently imported, costing the public treasury a lot of foreign currency.” With this in mind, he indicated that the energy and mining sector has adopted this approach, like the Sonelgaz Group, which has entered into a partnership with the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence (ENSIA) .

In the presence of the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid, Mr. Arkab recalled that the Sonatrach Group has created an incubator for start-ups at the level of University of Ouargla, noting that the sector is committed to providing help and support to start-ups and project leaders.
