School sport is called upon to become the real pool of mass sport it was when elite athletes were high school students and students. For this, it is essential to expand the participation of students from the three levels in the practice of sport. The ideal is that school sport is the starting point for all competitions, including internationally. This concern corresponds to the projects and orientations of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in this area.
In December 2024, during an international conference entitled: ” School and university sport, Olympic values ​​and sustainable development ”, participants reaffirmed that the development of sports in school and university circles constitutes “a priority for the highest authorities in the country”.
They stressed that considerable efforts were made by the public authorities through the new regulatory framework that governs the policy of sport in Algeria which reflects

The new regulatory texts give a special place to the development of school and university sport as well as to sport in the training and vocational education community, in the national sport policy and within the framework of its own competition system which responds to Olympic values.
These new laws provide for incentive measures for school sport, in particular by authorizing the financing operations of school and university sport by the State, local authorities, businesses as well as public and private organizations. The launch of the National School School Championship last January reflects this desire to relaunch school sport.
At the same period, nearly 16,000 physical education and sports teachers were recruited in order to relaunch school sport according to a new approach.
School sports wilayas leagues have been created, as part of the promotion of school sports activity and the widening of its practice. Facilities have been granted for the financial management of the national demonstrations included in the FASS program, which will encourage the wilayas leagues to host national school sports competitions. During the past year 2024, school sports activities experienced a particular dynamic thanks to the attention of public authorities to this sector, in accordance with the directives of President Tebboune, aimed at rehabilitating school sport to make it, as in the past, a pool of champions who will high the national colors on the international scene.
In fact, school sport has become a cornerstone in state policy for the development of sport. It is an essential component of the vision of President Tebboune, which constantly insists on the right of young people to practice sport, as a bridge towards development and excellence, a space of success, and a springboard to allow our youth to proudly hoist the national flag in international competitions.
The Ministry of Sports has committed, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, to place school sport at the heart of its priorities, not only by the support of these events, but also through continuous training and support programs, knowing the vital role of supervisors, teachers and coaches in the field.
Naturally, beforehand, it is necessary to ensure that to join their school, the students do not cross roads made of mud and pond in winter with, on both sides, wild landfills of household waste and rubble and that water infiltrations, through the roof, are not recorded in the classes, because the waterproofing is faulty; To ensure, also, the existence of heating, and that the broken windows, instead of being clogged with the help of plastic sachets, are repaired … In fact, as orders the recent directives of the government, all the operations linked to the school year 2025-2026 must be finalized, in particular the installation of heating devices in rural areas and the development of the surroundings of schools. These guidelines insisted on the imperative to ensure school transport and hot meals in school canteens from the first day of class.
