From the end of this week, on the eve of Eid-el-Adha, a section of the project to connect the capital of the wilaya of Tiaret to the Chott Chergui basin over a length of 8 km will be put into operation. This was announced by Taha Derbal, Minister of Hydraulics.

In a statement to the press, at the end of his inspection visit to the wilaya, the minister specified that to guarantee the success of this mission, the project was entrusted to the public company Cosider Canalisations. He assured that the workers of this company have already started work with a view to receiving the project, extending over a total distance of 42 km.

The minister noted that during his last visit last week to the wilaya of Tiaret, in the company of the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, Brahim Merad, on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the drinking water network (AEP) of the wilaya has been reinforced by 8,000 m3 of water, thanks to the entry into service of several boreholes and the connection of agricultural wells, as well as a borehole belonging to the Ladjdar mineral water production company with adductions, which increased the quantity available at 16,000 m3/day instead of 8,000 m3.

Furthermore, during the meeting devoted to the technical study of the project to supply 11 municipalities with drinking water from the Djermaya water basin, i.e. the six municipalities making up the delegated wilaya of Ksar Chellala and four municipalities of the daïra of Mahdia and the capital of the wilaya, Mr. Derbal announced that “the effective launch of the implementation of the water transfer project from this basin will be opened during the next week”. He added that the works will be awarded to national public companies, in accordance with the applicable legal procedures in force, while respecting technical standards.

The design office presented a set of indicators and data, emphasizing that this project will connect 19 boreholes, which will provide 34,000 m3 per day, at a rate of 25 liters per second for each, which makes the wilaya completely comfortable in terms of water for a long period

Derbal also announced that the management of the affairs of the water resources directorate was entrusted to the central director of the ministry, Zaki Bencheikh Hocine, and the management of the Algerian Waters (ADE) unit to the director central to the general management of the company, Ali Kara, with a view to filling the gaps, after the dismissal of the wilaya managers of these two bodies.

During this technical meeting, the minister gave instructions to the central directors at the ministry, to the general directors of ADE companies, the National Sanitation Office, the National Irrigation and Drainage Office to remain in the wilaya as part of monitoring the progress of the work. He also gave firm directives to the general directors of the national implementing companies responsible for carrying out this project, announcing an inspection visit at the end of next week.

It should be noted that at the start of his visit, the Minister of Hydraulics visited several construction sites, such as the Chott Chergui project and a drilling in the village of Si El-Haouès, as well as the commissioning of other projects. These include projects to strengthen the AEP network for the benefit of the commune of Tiaret, starting from the Aïn Dzarit water basin, as well as the connection of a well belonging to the water production company. mineral water from Ladjdar with the supply network, towards the capital of the wilaya.
