The Minister of Finance, Abdelkrim Bouzred, highlighted, Tuesday evening in Algiers, the results recorded in recent years, which, he indicated, testify to the transformation experienced by the national economy, which has really moved away from the rentier logic to move towards a real diversification of revenues, noting that this orientation constituted the basis on which next year’s budget rests, as part of a financial policy aimed at strengthening growth and improving resource management. public. “The Algerian economy is moving in the right direction,” he said, recalling that the economic and financial policies adopted had made it possible to preserve external balances.
Speaking during a plenary session at the National People’s Assembly (APN), chaired by
Mr. Brahim Boughali, President of the Assembly, in the presence of members of the Government, to answer the questions and concerns of deputies regarding the Finance Bill (PLF) 2026, the minister affirmed that the Algerian economy recorded positive indicators which confirm the correctness of the orientation adopted by the country. As reflected, he continued, in the appreciable growth rates recorded, the maintenance of external balances with a decline in inflation.
“Efforts continue to accelerate digitalization as well as financial, tax and budgetary reforms,” he stressed.
The results recorded in recent years testify to the transformation experienced by the national economy, which has truly moved away from the rentier logic and towards a real diversification of revenues, added the minister, noting that this orientation constituted the basis on which next year’s budget rests, within the framework of a financial policy aimed at strengthening growth and improving the management of public resources.
“Efforts have been intensified at the level of the various administrations to complete, as quickly as possible, the digitization operation with a view to setting up a unified database facilitating the various transactions and contributing to the strengthening of the ongoing reform process,” said Abdelkrim Bouzred. Noting that it is recording satisfactory progress in the financial sector.
The Ministry of Finance, he said, now has a database containing the assets of citizens and businesses and that cooperation agreements have been signed with other organizations for an exchange of information, adds the minister, indicating that citizens will be able, at the beginning of 2026, to access administrative documents relating to their assets remotely, a step which constitutes a qualitative leap towards a modern digital administration. Announcing, in passing, the commissioning, during the first half of 2026, of the electronic land book, which will allow the updating of land data, while simplifying transactions between citizens and the administration.
Regarding budget management, the minister assured that it will undergo, from the start of next year, a radical transformation, consisting of a total use of electronic transactions, which will facilitate the payment of salaries, the collection of statistics and the monitoring of financial operations, with digitization expected to extend, subsequently, to the Public Treasury. Noting that the digitalization of budget execution operations will allow the improvement of liquidity management, particularly with regard to corporate debts and investment operations.
The Ministry of Finance, he said, is also working to revise and simplify procedures relating to public procurement within the framework of the new Public Procurement Law of 2023, the Executive Decree of which has not yet been published due to the introduction of amendments aimed at simplifying procedures.
