The Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Mr. Gerd Muller, visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, as well as at the public accelerator “Algeria Venture” where he listened to detailed presentations on the ecosystem of Start-ups and their activities, an approach which reflects the growing interest at the international level in supporting innovation and to entrepreneurship in Algeria, a ministry statement said on Sunday. At the start of the meeting, the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid delivered a welcome speech in which he underlined the crucial role of Start-ups. ups in strengthening economic growth and innovation in Algeria, highlighting “the importance of bringing together a favorable environment and a solid legal framework to allow project leaders to succeed,” specified the same source.
“Algeria is today reaping the fruits of the strong political will of the President of the Republic for more than four years, placing the knowledge economy at the heart of public policy concerns, as well as the State’s efforts to continental level for economic integration, which have materialized in the field of Start-ups through the organization of the African Start-up Conferences in 2022 and 2023,” he maintained.
As part of the visit, the Director of Start-ups and Incubation at the ministry, Noureddine Ouaddah, presented an exhaustive presentation on the Start-up ecosystem in Algeria, in which he presented key statistics and “inspiring” experiences. , and explained the legal environment that supports the growth and prosperity of Start-ups. The general director of the Public Accelerator of Start-ups, Sid Ali Zerrouki, also presented a presentation on the role of the Accelerator and the programs intended for start-ups on which he worked, in addition to Algerian participations in world fairs. major technology companies and start-ups.
