Les bénéficiaires tenus de soumettre leurs plans – Le Jeune Indépendant

Public operators and beneficiaries of large areas in the southern wilayas are called upon to present their agricultural plans for the next three seasons, in order to increase agricultural production in strategic sectors. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa.

During a meeting which took place in the presence of the directors of agricultural services of the southern wilayas, the secretary general of the National Union of Agronomists (UNA), and executives of the sector, the development of agricultural plans for each zone for the next three seasons (2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027) was devoted to the development of agricultural plans for each zone for the next three seasons (2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027), indicated a press release from the ministry.

The operation of prior identification of agricultural plans, which will be implemented from this July, aims to increase the area devoted to main crops such as cereals, corn, oilseeds and legumes.

The commitments of each operator will be materialized in the form of performance contracts, specifying the areas allocated to each crop as well as the expected yield per hectare, according to the press release.

Regarding the cultivation of yellow corn, it was agreed during this meeting to create large areas in the wilaya of In Salah, adds the same source.

As a reminder, this meeting is part of the preparations for the next agricultural season, particularly with regard to strategic crops, in implementation of the decisions of the Council of Ministers held on July 15, 2024. In this sense, the President of the Republic had ordered “the orientation of the flour mills at a standstill towards activity in the field of animal feed through the exploitation of our capacities in the production of corn, which will have a positive impact on animal wealth and in particular the production of meat”,

Also stressing that “the development of the agricultural sector is a matter of sovereignty and national dignity for all of us”, he further urged the Minister of Agriculture to pave the way for the new generation of agricultural engineers through small businesses and start-ups, in order to achieve a real revolution leading us to self-sufficiency.”
