“The role of business councils in boosting economic diplomacy” was the subject, yesterday Sunday, of a seminar in Algiers, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf and the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni. On this occasion, Ahmed Attaf affirmed that business councils constitute one of the main mechanisms of economic diplomacy. He considered that the organization of this important meeting “comes at the right time”, because, he said, “our country is currently experiencing an economic boom with clear objectives and notable results”. For Ahmed Attaf, this growth is the fruit of the reforms initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the implementation of his ambitious and promising economic program as part of a solid approach aimed at building a strong and diversified national economy which on its national capacities and reduces excessive dependence on hydrocarbons. He welcomed the positive results obtained: a growth rate of 4.2%, a GDP of 260 billion dollars, foreign exchange reserves exceeding 70 billion dollars and non-hydrocarbon exports which should soon exceed the threshold of 10 billion. dollars”. “Algeria was among the first countries at the continental and international levels to set up such mechanisms, starting in the 1990s,” he recalled, specifying that “Algeria created, at this day, more than 40 business councils with Arab, African, European, Asian and two Americas countries.
