The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa, chaired a meeting with the directors of agricultural services of the 58 wilayas, devoted to examining the latest preparations, before the official launch of the General Agricultural Census (RGA ) 2024, scheduled for May 19 across the national territory. This was stated in a press release from the ministry on Thursday.

During this meeting which took place on Wednesday by videoconference, Mr. Cherfa recalled “the major importance of this operation for the country in general and for the agricultural sector in particular, because it will make it possible to collect precise data which will constitute a basis for the development of future sectoral policies”, according to the same source.

He also underlined the particularity of this edition compared to previous ones, particularly in terms of preparation of the census operation and mobilization of material and human resources, as well as the period set for the realization of the RGA 2024, concomitantly with the launch of the combine harvest campaign and the implementation of the National Plan for the development of strategic sectors and crops.

At the end of this meeting, the minister presented his thanks to all “the actors mobilized to make this crucial operation succeed for the national economy, and at their head the walis of the Republic who ensured its good preparation”, concludes the communicated.
