The work of the preparatory ministerial meetings for the 33rd Arab League Summit began this Tuesday in Manama (Bahrain), with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf.
These meetings focused on monitoring the implementation of the resolutions adopted at the previous summit held in Jeddah, as well as on the main issues proposed for inclusion on the agenda of the Manama summit, at the top of which the Palestinian cause and the latest developments related to Arab national security in all its dimensions.
On this occasion, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “the tireless efforts made by Algeria since its accession to the Security Council in support of the Palestinian question have been particularly welcomed, in particular its role in taking charge of urgent priorities imposed by the situation in Ghaza, in addition to its efforts deployed with a view to the admission of Palestine as a state with full rights to the UN”.
Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs met this Tuesday with his Bahraini counterpart Mr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani. According to another press release from the ministry, the head of Bahrain’s diplomacy welcomed Algeria’s diplomatic efforts and its commitment within the UN Security Council in favor of the Palestinian cause and a ceasefire. fire in the Gaza Strip.
On the sidelines of the work, Mr. Ahmed Attaf had bilateral talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Ayman Safadi, with whom he discussed issues concerning Algerian-Jordanian relations in addition of bilateral coordination in anticipation of the Manama Summit.
The minister also held with his Mauritanian counterpart, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, a consultation meeting dedicated to the exchange of analyzes and visions on the development of the situation at the Arab and African levels, taking into account the roles of acquit these two brother countries within these spaces.
Also, Mr. Attaf met his Yemeni counterpart, Mr. Mohsen Al-Zindani, with whom he examined the evolution of the situation in Yemen and the prospects of mobilizing the necessary support through the UN Security Council .
As a reminder, instructed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Ahmed Attaf arrived the day before yesterday in the afternoon in Manama to participate in the preparatory meeting of the 33rd ordinary session of the Arab Summit scheduled for May 16 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The agenda of the preparatory meeting will focus on the development of draft resolutions relating to the subjects which will be included on the agenda of the Summit, headed by the Palestinian cause, as well as other subjects related to security Arab nationality, and joint Arab action, in its political, diplomatic, economic, social and cultural dimensions, according to the terms of a press release from the MAE.
