Connection of the surrounding areas of Boumerdès to the Boudouaou-Zéralda ring road

The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, spoke on Thursday at the National People’s Assembly (APN) about the railway project to connect the surrounding areas of the wilaya of Boumerdès to the Boudouaou-Zeralda ring road. Revealing that the technical studies concerning this project have been finalized. “The technical studies were completed and officially approved as part of a future program, the cost of which is estimated at 900 million DA,” indicated Abdelkader Djellaoui.
Speaking during a plenary session devoted to oral questions, chaired by Slimane Smaili, vice-president of the Assembly, in the presence of the Minister of Relations with Parliament, Nadjiba Djilali and members of the Government, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, assured that several railway projects in the wilayas of the West of the country will be received in the coming months, as part of efforts aimed at relieve road traffic congestion.
“Several railway projects in the wilayas of the west of the country are experiencing notable progress in the works, which is capable of creating greater dynamism on the economic and social levels,” he said.
To this end, the minister mentioned the railway project linking Relizane-Tissemsilt-Tiaret over a distance of 185 km, a project which is part of the complementary economic development program launched by the public authorities, just as it constitutes one of the major structuring projects in the sector within the framework of the program dedicated to the Hauts-Plateaux, he continued. Noting that the first section of this vital project, over a distance of 10 km, will be delivered at the end of the current year, while the reception of the second section, 63.5 km long, linking Tiaret to Tissemsilt, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
As for the remaining section, spanning a distance of 110 km, observed the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, it will be subject to a re-evaluation operation with a view to resuming work with the provision of the financial means necessary for its completion.
Referring to the project of the railway line linking Oued Sly (wilaya of Chlef) to Yellel (wilaya of Relizane), over a distance of 93 km, part of the Algiers-Oran railway axis, the minister said that the progress rate of the works had reached 95%.
“Reception of the project is scheduled for the end of next December,” added Abdelkader Djellaoui.
Finally, with regard to the construction of a tunnel and a parking lot in the city of Saida, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure announced the effective launch of the project during the month of November, after the completion of all the legal and administrative procedures required for public procurement, with a view to guaranteeing transparency and efficiency.
