On the occasion of the celebration of the National Moudjahid Day, on August 20, the Directorate of Culture and the Arts of the Wilaya of Médéa organized the 2ᵉ edition of the spelling marathon, also called “dictation marathon”.
The event, which was held on August 24 at the city’s main library, brought together a large audience of young participants, aged 10 to 14, from several municipalities in the wilaya. Among them were in particular cadets of civil protection supervised for the occasion by primary and college teachers, members of the jury.
The subject of the dictation focused on a historical and revolutionary text devoted to the journey of the martyr Zirout Youcef, emblematic chief of the North-Constantine and the main planner of the attacks of August 20, 1955. A carrier theme, which aroused the interest of young competitors and contributed to the anchoring of national memory in their learning.
The organizers stressed that this initiative is part of “efforts to preserve national memory and to enhance the figures of the revolution that played a major role in the fight for national independence”. According to them, it was also “a way to motivate students, to awaken their competitive spirit as you approach the start of the school year, and to encourage them to master the written language”.
At the end of the deliberations, the jury, which assessed copies according to rigorous criteria on linguistic accuracy, clarity of expression and calligraphic aesthetics, proclaimed the results of the competition. Khadir Nour al-Imane won 1ʳᵉ place, followed by Aoufi Maria, classified in 2ᵉ position, while the 3ᵉ place returned to Maya Aoufi.
The award ceremony took place in the presence of managers of the cultural sector of the wilaya. Symbolic rewards have been awarded to the three winners, welcoming their merit and their performance.
Organized under the patronage of the Médéa wali, Djillali Doumi, this competition is part of a rich and diversified cultural dynamic, marking the summer and commemorative festivities of the wilaya.
