The Director of Civil Affairs and State Seal at the Ministry of Justice, Ahmed Ali Salah, emphasized the day before yesterday in Oran, the importance for notaries and bailiffs to respect their legal obligations. in the fight against money laundering, as public officers, and to report suspicions recorded at their level.
During a regional meeting on “The scope of intervention of the public officer in the prevention and fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism”, Mr. Ahmed Ali Salah urged notaries and bailiffs to justice to “accomplish the missions entrusted to them by law in the field of the fight against money laundering without fail and to fully commit to the State strategy to fight against this type of crime”.
He added that the State has established an integrated legal system including a legal text and Executive Decrees, precisely defining intervention models to combat the crime of money laundering.
The actors involved in this area have been expanded to include notaries, bailiffs and the chambers which represent them, as bodies working under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice. He held them responsible for their participation in the fight against this crime, through the declaration and reporting mechanism whenever necessary, according to the same source.
In this context, the president of the Regional Chamber of Notaries of the West region,
Mr. Rahmani Laradj, underlined “the adherence of notaries, as public officers, fully to the State strategy in the fight against the crime of money laundering, as a national and professional duty, ‘one part, and a legal duty decided by the legislator’.
In this regard, he called on public authorities to expand the areas of digitalization to affect these professions, in order to allow access to government digital platforms, to document the various operations and the registration of these operations. in complete transparency and security.
The president of the Regional Chamber of Bailiffs of the Western region also highlighted the involvement of bailiffs in the field of preventing the crime of money laundering and financing of terrorism, in accordance with the laws established by the State to protect the national economy and security.
