the “Editorial Guest” on Channel III of Algerian Radio.
For the Radio host, this increase in road accidents as well as the number of deaths compared to the same period of the previous year, is based on several factors, but the most dominant remains “the human factor”, explains the representative of the Ministry of the Interior.
“Since the start of the summer season, the number of accidents has increased due to high mobility and the numerous trips of citizens to the coastal wilayas. Night traffic is also more frequent during the summer holidays, which increases the risk of accidents,” explains Nait El-Hocine on Channel III.

“Data from the road safety delegation indicates a predominance of the human factor as the main cause of accidents and within the framework of this human factor, we find non-compliance with traffic rules, dangerous maneuvers and excess of speed which are the cause of nearly 20% of accidents. We also observe that lack of driving skills is among the causes of accidents since 20% of the drivers involved in these tragedies hold probationary licenses, while holders of a license of less than 5 years are involved in them. more than 50%,” he said.
Another strong involvement in road accidents is that of motorcyclists who, according to the host of the show “Editorial Guest”, “are involved in more than 20% of traffic accidents, while motorcycles only represent 3% of the national automobile fleet,” he laments with astonishment.
“There has been a strong increase in the involvement of motorcyclists which has been observed in recent years,” said the representative of the road safety delegation.
Before concluding, Ahmed Nait El-Hocine indicated that the role of raising awareness among road users must intensify during the period of the summer season, while highlighting the major campaign for which the National Gendarmerie is preparing and numerous partners, including Algerian Radio and Television as well as Naftal, to deal with this very worrying increase in accidents on the roads.
