Algeria will spare no effort to confront everyone with their responsibilities regarding the Palestinian question. This is what the president of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, said this Sunday.
In a speech delivered at the opening of the proceedings of 36e Congress of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPA), at the International Conference Center (CIC), Boughali maintained that Algeria “remains constant in its position of principle in favor of the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to the recovery of all their rights” . He noted that the current situation is the result of the denial of this legitimate right by the international community as well as the practices of the Zionist entity, which enjoys support and total impunity in a context marked by an imbalance which hinders multilateralism and distances it from its true role.
Boughali also denounced “the policy of double standards and contempt for international law and legality, which have become commonplace”. “The Palestinian people are prey to barbaric bombings and massacres of defenseless civilians committed by the Zionist entity, whose crimes spare nothing and no one,” he lamented, affirming that this “enters into the framework of the Zionist plan aimed at the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, the destruction of the foundations of life in Gaza and the forced displacement of its population, while the Security Council remains hostage to the right of veto.
Algeria, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, “has spared and will spare no effort to confront everyone with their moral and legal responsibilities towards Palestine and its people” , he said, assuring that all means will be put in place to enforce the UN resolutions which guarantee the right of the Palestinians to the establishment of their independent state with El-Quds as its capital.
Boughali welcomed the historic decision of the United Nations General Assembly, which voted to admit the State of Palestine as a full member of the UN. A decision followed by that of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering an immediate end to the offensive. In this context, the president of the APN assured that Algeria “will continue to mobilize the necessary support to fully achieve its objective and put an end to impunity for crimes committed against the Palestinian people, its symbols and its history.
On this occasion, Boughali expressed the hope that the congress would be an opportunity “to reinvigorate” joint Arab parliamentary action in favor of peace and development to meet the regional and international challenges facing our nation, stressing that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people with their countless martyrs have “shifted the balance, awakened consciences and exposed the barbarity of the Zionist entity and its contempt for all values and all laws”. He insisted that “Arab Parliaments must now align themselves with the international momentum and make national interest prevail over all other considerations”.
The Speaker of the Lower House also called for “an end to the divisions that delay the recovery of Palestinian national rights.” He hoped that this congress would contribute to the strengthening of Arab understanding and the relaunch of common action mechanisms, the objective being to achieve, through the mobilization of all, a unified position in favor of the just cause. of the Palestinian people.
