The significant progress made by Algeria in the health sector, through the development of ambitious programs, was presented this Tuesday in Geneva by the Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saïhi. This was stated by the ministry in a press release.
In front of the participants of the 77e World Health Assembly, at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO), Mr. Saïhi presented an overview of the progress made by Algeria, highlighting the priority given to three fundamental pillars, in this case vaccination, modernization of infrastructure and implementation of the sick action plan.
In terms of vaccination, the minister stressed that “Algeria has generalized 100% vaccination of children”, thus illustrating the country’s commitment to guaranteeing the health of these young generations. This success can be explained by an ambitious national strategy which made it possible to provide the entire territory with modern and accessible vaccination centers.
Algeria did not just protect its own population. Faithful to its values of solidarity and regional cooperation, “Algeria has ensured the vaccination of more than 13 foreign nationalities at its borders, within the framework of cooperation and solidarity in Africa”, testifying to the deep commitment of the countries to contribute to the improvement of public health throughout the region.
Anxious to offer quality health services to all its citizens, a vast program to modernize health infrastructure has been initiated. This program aims to provide health establishments with modern and efficient equipment, while bringing them closer to the populations, particularly in rural and isolated areas, said the first manager of the health sector. He explained: “We have modernized many health units and brought them closer to the people. »
This approach is part of the patient action plan (PAM), which includes 28 objectives and 143 concrete activities aimed at improving the patient experience. The WFP plans in particular the construction of new health structures, the renovation of existing establishments, the acquisition of the latest generation medical equipment and the recruitment of qualified personnel.
Saïhi also affirmed that “Algeria has placed the patient at the center of any reform of the health system”. This approach aims to guarantee quality, personalized care focused on the needs of each individual. Concretely, this translates into improving patient reception and information, reducing waiting times, personalizing care pathways and developing telemedicine.
The minister wanted to emphasize that “everything that Algeria does is part of the sustainable development programs and the set agenda, which are in turn part of the orientations of the President of the Republic, Mr. . Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who attaches great importance to the health sector.
