The deputies, representatives of the national community abroad, welcomed, the day before yesterday Thursday, the decision of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to facilitate the movement of Algerians established abroad. “The decision of the President of the Republic aimed to allow Algerians residing abroad, holders of foreign passports valid until October 31, 2024, to enter and leave, exceptionally, the national territory without first obtaining a visa, once again confirms the great interest that the Head of State has in the members of the national community, “indicated to the APS, the deputy Toufik Khedim, representative of the Algerian community established in France, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and from the community to the APN.
The instructions given by the President of the Republic, he continued, will allow members of the national community to plan, at their ease, their return to the country for the summer of 2024. Noting that the same decision and instructions will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the organizational operation at the level of the Algerian consulates. In this sense, he said, the usual load will be lightened.
“Taking charge of the issue of facilitating travel to the country for members of the national community established abroad, previously raised so much by their representatives at the APN, has really materialized through the instructions given by the President of the Republic,” he added.
For his part, the deputy of the national diaspora of the America and the rest of Europe constituency, Rahmani Faris considered that the decision of the Head of State comes at the right time, in this sense, he indicated , that the problem which could have resulted from the large number of applications for passport renewal, was resolved thanks to the wise decision of the President, to replace expired passports, by presenting, exceptionally, the biometric identity card.
“This decision will guarantee the Algerian citizen the right to travel which is enshrined in the Constitution,” he continued. Affirming that the instructions of the President of the Republic on the provisions and procedures for improving consular services respond to the aspirations of the national community abroad, and should have a positive impact on the quality of the services provided to them.
The deputy representing the national community of the fourth constituency (the two Americas, Canada and the rest of Europe), Ibrahim Dekhinat, for his part, welcomed these instructions, ensuring that they coincide with the expiration of the first wave of Algerian biometric passports, 10 years after the issuance of the first documents of this type.
Which, he observed, would have hampered their travel to their country, and the decision taken by the President of the Republic anticipated this problem. Welcoming the announced facilities which make it possible to present a valid foreign passport, accompanied by the electronic biometric national identity card, even if it has expired, or to present a valid foreign passport, accompanied by a passport Algerian biometric expired.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad informed Algerian citizens residing abroad and holders of valid foreign passports that they can, until October 31, 2024, enter and exit , exceptionally, from the national territory, without first obtaining a visa, in the following two cases, the presentation of a valid foreign passport, with a biometric national identity document, even if it is no longer valid, or the presentation of a valid foreign passport, with an expired Algerian biometric passport, on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
