The progress rate of work on the seawater desalination station project at Cap Djenet, in the wilaya of Boumerdès, has exceeded 63%. This rate was revealed this Wednesday during an inspection visit to the site by the president and CEO of the Sonatrach group, Rachid Hachichi.

The first manager of the national hydrocarbons company was reassured about the rate of progress of the work presented to him, especially since three Sonatrach subsidiaries are responsible for supervising the completion of this project. This is what the Sonatrach group indicated in a press release. During a visit to the desalination station project site, Mr. Hachichi was accompanied by the wali of Boumerdès, Ms. Fouzia Naama, senior executives from Sonatrach and other executives from the wilaya of Boumerdes, we read in the communicated.

During this visit, the CEO and the delegation accompanying him inquired about the progress of work on this “vital and important” project, where presentations and explanations were presented to them by representatives of the companies responsible for the work in progress, the completion rate of which exceeds 63%, which will enable the station to be delivered within the set deadlines,” adds the same source.

The CEO took this opportunity to visit the different units of this station to inquire about the progress of the work.

And to underline that the work has “significantly” progressed by moving to the phase of construction of a sea water intake unit, entrusted to the company “Mediterranean maritime works (MEDITRAM)”, while the engineering works civil, electrical and mechanical have reached considerable rates. Other units are also about to be delivered, including the loading unit.

“This project is in the process of receiving equipment intended for the operation of the station’s various operating units,” said the same source.

“The acceptance of this vital project will make it possible to supply three (3) million citizens with drinking water in the wilayas of Boumerdes and Algiers, especially since the production capacity of the water desalination unit of sea of ​​​​Cap Djenat amounts to 300,000 m3.

The Sonatrach group was responsible, through its subsidiaries, for carrying out this project, which is part of the commitments of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at mitigating the water stress. These are in fact the Algerian Energy Company (AEC), the National Society of Civil Engineering and Building and the National Enterprise of Major Petroleum Works (ENGTP), concludes the press release.
