Williams jubilant after Roja’s first goal
Twelve years after its last victory, Spain won the Euro for the fourth time in its history by beating England in the final (2-1) this Sunday at the Olympic stadium in Berlin.
Captain Alvaro Morata’s teammates found the net thanks to their two attacking nuggets. Lamine Yamal came back on his left foot before finding Nico Williams, whose cross shot deceived Jordan Pickford (47th).
La Roja then had several chances to break away but lacked precision. On the brink of the abyss, England found the resources to equalise. Shortly after coming on, Cole Palmer found the net with a superb curling shot (73rd) on a pass from Jude Bellingham. As the game headed into extra time, Spain regained the lead after a team move finished by Mikel Oyarzabal.
In the semi-final, the Spanish beat the French by the same score (2-1) while the English got the better of Holland (2-1).
