The Entente de Sétif plunges back into sporting turmoil. With only 7 points on the clock after 1 victory, 3 defeats and 4 draws, the flagship club of the Hauts-Plateaux sees its season threatened. Faced with this worrying situation, management decided to act to try to stop the negative spiral and revive confidence around the team.
She thus terminated, this Thursday, October 30, the functions of Toufik Rouabah. Arriving with the ambition to relaunch a team lacking benchmarks, the coach did not manage to establish the regularity or identity of play necessary to put the ESS back on the performance track. This decision comes in a delicate context, marked by chronic instability within the club: internal tensions, financial difficulties and lack of technical continuity have slowed down the construction of a real sporting project worthy of the prestige of the Entente. According to the specialist media “Fennec du football”, management has already started advanced discussions with Mondher Kebaier. The former coach of Tunisia, renowned for his tactical discipline and his ability to promote young people, appears to be the main candidate to take over. His time with the Eagles of Carthage, punctuated in particular by a quarter-final at CAN 2021 and qualification for the 2022 World Cup play-offs, strengthens his status. The Tunisian technician would, however, require clear sporting and administrative guarantees before committing to a project that he wishes to be structured and sustainable.
This potential choice is part of a dynamic now well anchored in Algerian football: the frequent use of foreign coaches, perceived as bringing expertise and discipline, in a context where technical stability and confidence in local skills remain fragile.
For the ESS, the arrival of Kebaier would be a strong signal, reflecting the desire to launch a new cycle, to re-establish a culture of performance and to reconnect with high ambitions, in line with the demands of its public. But the supporters know: the change of coach is only a step. Reconstruction requires a coherent project, a clear vision and a lasting commitment around realistic but unifying objectives.
