Fouka2 desalination station: the east of Blida reinforced in drinking water

Production is strengthening.

As part of the efforts to improve the living conditions of citizens and ensure adequate public service, in particular in terms of drinking water supply, the drinking water production system in Blida has just strengthened by an additional 20,000 m3/ water day, coming from the Seawater Desalination Station (SDEM) Fouka2 (Tipasa).

This additional volume of desalged water is intended for the cover of the needs of several municipalities in the part of the wilaya, including the municipalities of Bouinan and Boufarik, said the sector director, Abdelkrim Allouche, during his presentation on site of the water scheme concerning this contribution of this liquid specific to consumption. It is in this dynamic that Brahim Ouchen, Wali de Blida, accompanied by P/APW and elected officials from the two chambers of the wilaya of Blida, supervised the commissioning of the 2nd phase of the plan to transfer the desalged sea water emanating from the Sdem Fouka 2.

This project, in its second phase, will provide around 20,000 m3 per day to the pumping station (SP2) in the town of Cheli. The Eastern Municipalities, notably Larbaa and Ouled Salama, will also benefit from an additional water supply thanks to the derivation of the waters of the Chebli capture basin, estimated at 2,500 m3 per day.

This new quota is added to a first endowment of 20,000 m3/day already assigned to the wilaya from the Sdem of Fouka, and intended for the municipalities of Mouzaia, El Affroun, Guerouaou, Soumaâ, Beni Tamou, Bouarfa, Beni Merad, Ouled Yaich and Blida.

In addition, the same official underlined the reception, since the beginning of the year, of eight new boreholes which made it possible to inject additional quantities of water, thus helping to improve the supply in this vital resource in several municipalities. Other boreholes are planned for commissioning before the end of the year. Mr. Allouche cited, among the other projects aimed at improving the supply of drinking water in the wilaya, the water treatment station in progress in the commune of El Affroun, whose reception is scheduled before the end of 2025, with an estimated production capacity at 8600 m3/day.

During the third phase of this operation, the municipalities of Soumaa, Guerrouaou and Chebli will benefit from 10,000 m3 by the end of this month, until the arrival of the fourth and last phase at the end of September, with a quantity of 50,000 m3 for the benefit of the municipalities of Meftah, Larbaa, Ouled Salama, Bouguerra and Djebabra, thus carrying the total production of the Water Fund will benefit the wilaya of Blida at 100,000 m3 per day. “This project is fully part of the vision of the government aimed at guaranteeing equitable access to drinking water, for each citizen, I will personally ensure that the water arrives in the tap of each house; I ask citizens to be a little patient. »»
