The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, announced this Saturday in Algiers that the 157 graduates of the 2026 class of the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence (ENSIA) and the National Higher School of Mathematics (ENSM) will benefit from employment contracts upon their exit. A strong measure, designed to stabilize the scientific elites and strengthen the country’s transition towards a true knowledge-based economy.
Baddari specified that “the integration of graduates will take place directly within public and private institutions, covering all economic sectors”, during the opening of the Job Offers Fair, at the Abdelhafid-Ihadaden scientific and technological center in Sidi Abdallah, in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki.
Their anticipated recruitment, said Mr. Baddari, aims to “diversify the national economy, modernize the productive sectors and create an environment conducive to innovation”. The minister added that this system is part of a national strategy aimed at retaining high-level skills. Affirming that “this is an essential lever for strengthening the knowledge economy and consolidating the contribution of these skills to the service of society”. He also noted the role of job fairs in bringing together advanced education courses and the real needs of companies, making it possible to “optimize investment in brains” thanks to direct bridges between training and professional integration.
According to ministry data, 107 students are registered at ENSIA and 50 at ENSM. At the Show, future engineers enthusiastically welcomed this announcement, which they consider to be “a unique opportunity” to enter a job market undergoing rapid technological change. These meetings will also offer them a space to interact with employers, understand the expectations of the productive sectors and identify internship or specialization avenues.
For their part, the companies present highlighted that artificial intelligence and mathematics are now establishing themselves as transversal skills, essential in industry, telecommunications, energy and even services. They see this merger as an opportunity to accelerate the integration of future experts and to meet growing needs for strategic skills.
23 new labels for innovative projects
Alongside this dynamic of professional integration, the promotion of innovation within universities continues. During this week, twenty-three innovative project labels were awarded to students from several establishments in the country, the Ministry of Higher Education indicated in a press release. This initiative responds to the commitments of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aiming to create 20,000 start-ups and microenterprises by 2029. The winning projects come in particular from the universities of science and technology Houari-Boumediene (USTHB), Oum El-Bouaghi, Tizi Ouzou, Blida 2, Djelfa, Tiaret, and the University of Sciences and technology of Oran (USTO) and Sidi Bel Abbès. Others come from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Kouba, the Ecole nationale supérieure de management (ENSM), as well as the universities of Mila, Médéa, Relizane, Sétif 1 (Ferhat-Abbas), Batna 2 and Chlef. The ministry recalled that this dynamic is part of the national Proto Market challenge, launched to encourage the transformation of innovative ideas from academics into marketable prototypes and then into start-ups.
This mechanism aims to encourage a spirit of initiative among students, to strengthen the culture of scientific entrepreneurship and to integrate the university into local and national economic dynamics. For labeled project leaders, this approach constitutes a first step towards the realization of their ideas and their insertion into the national innovation ecosystem.
Therefore, between the direct hiring of elite graduates, the labeling of innovative projects and the launch of national initiatives such as Proto Market, the policy pursued works tirelessly to make the university a central player in the economic, technological and social transformation of the country.
