INCC officially receives its accreditation from the OPCW

National Gendarmerie

The National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie (INCC/GN) has officially received its accreditation by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the sidelines of the 55th evaluation meeting of the results of the proficiency test, thus becoming the first laboratory accredited by this international organization in Africa. In a speech delivered on Tuesday, the Deputy Director General of the OPCW, Ambassador Odette Melono, welcomed this achievement of the Institute which, having fulfilled all the criteria set by the organization in this matter, becomes the first accredited laboratory in Africa, she said. This achievement is the fruit of the experience acquired by the experts of the INCC/GN and their sustained efforts, notably last year with the signing of a twinning agreement between the Institute and its German counterpart WIS.
The permanent missions of Algeria and Germany organized a ceremony to celebrate this achievement, together with the OPCW Technical Secretariat, in the presence of representatives of different accredited laboratories, the coordinators of the regional groups and the representative of the organization’s laboratory.
On this occasion, the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the OPCW, Ambassador Salima Abdelhak, congratulated the INCC/GN for this achievement which allows it to position itself as a center of excellence thanks to its contribution to capacity building at the national and regional levels through several training courses organized in collaboration with the Technical Secretariat of the organization. This accreditation brings added value to the activities of the institute, which remains willing to share its experience with other laboratories.
