In a speech pronounced during the closure of the work of the “day of African diasporas”, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the national community abroad, Sofiane Chaib, indicated that this event was marked by a rigorous organization, “fruitful debates” and “constructive interventions”, which highlighted its importance and regard, ”according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the national community abroad and African affairs.
The Secretary of State was delighted with the “high -level participation” and the “strong presence of African diasporas” from all over the world, in addition to the “remarkable participation of the Algerian community abroad”, represented by more than 250 participants. “The success of this demonstration reflects the interest shown by the President of the Republic in the question of the diaspora, evidenced by the broad participation of the members of our community abroad,” he continued.
Speaking at a press conference held after the work of the “African diasporas day”, Mr. Chaib explained that this edition, the second of its kind, was “exceptional”, in particular by the official high -level presence at the opening, of several heads of state and government of Africa and the Caribbean, representing the sixth egish in matters of African diasporas. He also pointed out that this event had experienced a qualitative participation of African diasporas from different countries of the world, as well as a strong presence of the Algerian community abroad, which actively contributed to the work of this event.
Sofiane Chaib also said that “the national community abroad is full of skills that can be presented as successful models in terms of diasporas commitment to the service of their countries, by putting their expertise and qualifications for the benefit of national economic development”. The Secretary of State has also emphasized the growing role of African diasporas, devoted to the continent by a summit on diasporas, stressing that African countries have been working to enhance the political, cultural and economic contribution of this category to the development process. In addition, Sofiane Chaïb praised the appropriate initiative to create the World Council of the Algerian diaspora (CMDA) at a time when “our compatriots are the subject of unprecedented attacks fueled by extremist and xenophobic speeches”.
