The National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (Anpdp), organized, yesterday Monday in Algiers, in coordination with the Ministry of Communication, a training day for the benefit of journalists, relating to the law relating to the protection of individuals, a press release from the Authority indicated the day before yesterday Sunday.
This training day is part of “the participatory approach adopted by the Authority, aimed at raising awareness of Law No. 18-07 as amended and supplemented relating to the protection of individuals in the processing of personal data,” specifies the same source.
It is also part of the missions entrusted to media professionals, in order to “strengthen their role in raising awareness of the culture of protection of personal data among the general public”, in particular by insisting on “the imperative respect for legal rules during the collection and processing, automated or not, of personal data”.
This meeting, which was hosted by Anpdp executives, as well as a public prosecutor at the court, was punctuated by a presentation on ”the national legal framework relating to the protection of personal data”, ”the responsibility of journalists in reconciling freedom of the press and the right to respect for private life”, as well as ”the obligations of those responsible for processing”. This day is part of a series of training and awareness meetings, organized by the Anpdp with different national institutions and organizations, in order to “promote compliance with legal provisions, enshrine the principles of transparency and guarantee the protection of privacy”.
