After officially announcing his candidacy for the next presidential election, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has obtained broad support from several political parties and civil society organizations. This support is particularly evident in the impressive collection of subscription sponsorships from elected officials and citizens in the 58 wilayas of the country. After only four days, the subscription operation is almost already complete.
To date, according to information gathered from activists of the parliamentary majority parties (FLN, RND, El Moustakbel), the signatures of APC and APW elected officials, as well as deputies and members of the Council of the Nation have reached 10,000, pending the finalization of those of citizens. These figures were obtained thanks to a strong mobilization during the two days of the weekend, also facilitated by the opening of the offices of the National Independent Authority for Elections.
It should be noted that the FLN party alone holds more than 7,000 seats at the APC and APW level, while the RND has more than 2,000 elected representatives.
According to the same sources, the instructions of the general staffs of the three political parties were to collect from today, from all regions of the country, the duly signed and legalized forms, in order to submit them on D-day to the campaign management of candidate Tebboune.
Thus, support for the outgoing President is expanding further with the latest statements from several political parties, the associative movement and civil society organizations. Their leaders have shown their support for Mr. Tebboune’s candidacy for the preservation of the achievements and the continuation of the process of construction and reforms.
The El-Islah movement reaffirmed, in a statement, its support for the candidacy of the President of the Republic, committing to “mobilizing the necessary popular support in favor of his candidacy, because he represents the right choice to realize the aspirations of Algerians within the framework of a real project of renaissance in all areas.”
The movement called on citizens to participate massively in the next presidential election to “strengthen Algeria’s position and unify ranks in the face of hostile plans and foreign plots hatched against our country.”
For its part, the Tajamoue Amel El Djazair (TAJ) party expressed, through its president Fatima-Zohra Zerouati, its “support for the candidacy of the President of the Republic, who assumed a heavy responsibility in 2019 and who deserves, today, to be supported to continue the development process and complete the project of building a new Algeria.”
During a meeting organized at the party headquarters in Algiers, Ms. Zerouati stressed the support of her political party “for efforts to preserve the achievements made”, urging all Algerians to “unite around Algeria to meet the challenges at the regional and international levels”.
The president of the Sawt Echaab party, Lamine Osmani, noted that “support for the candidacy of the President of the Republic is part of our firm conviction regarding the necessary completion of the various reform projects that he has undertaken.”
Osmani praised “the sincere will of the President of the Republic drawn from the values of the glorious liberation revolution.”
During a meeting led by its general coordinator in Algiers, the Algerian Societal Pole also gave its support to the candidacy of the President of the Republic to “ensure continuity and preserve stability”.
For its part, the Algerian Youth Academy affirmed that its support for Mr. Tebboune’s candidacy was motivated by “the achievements he has made since his accession to the country’s highest office, in particular his efforts to overcome the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic and the global economic crisis.”
The Academy also praised the policy that the President of the Republic has adopted at both the domestic and foreign levels as well as “his efforts aimed at enabling young people to assume high responsibilities through the 2020 Constitution.”
