Reacting following the global appeal launched just a few days ago by “The Hague Initiative for Law and Justice” to denounce the war crimes committed by the Zionist occupying army against the people of Ghaza, the Algiers Bar Association organized, last Sunday, a rally of solidarity and justice with the martyred Palestinian people.
The day before yesterday and in front of the famous seat of the Court of Algiers, the Secretary General of the Bar Association of Algiers, Allag Kamel declared that this action responds to the call launched by the International Criminal Court (ICC), “it aims to express our total solidarity with the Palestinian people and total support for the International Criminal Court (ICC) in its mission to judge Zionist war criminals”, while recalling, at the same time, that “Algeria has always been at the forefront of defending the Palestinian cause,” he said.
Present at the rally, the lawyers expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and the ICC in the face of the war crimes signed by the army of the Zionist entity.
The lawyers will later sign a petition that will be delivered to the ICC, calling on it to accelerate the investigation into Zionist crimes committed in Gaza and to allow access to investigators from the ICC Attorney General’s Office in the devastated Gaza Strip, before the evidence disappears. On the other hand, this action which comes in response to the call launched by “The Hague Initiative for Law and Justice”, inviting jurists and lawyers from around the world to participate in a global movement in favor of international justice and to support the independence of the ICC, while defending the rights of the victims of the genocide committed by the Zionist occupier in the Gaza Strip, saw the participation of other foreign lawyers. This is the case of the Palestinian lawyer, Wassim El-Chenti, the latter who came specially from his country to participate in this action, declared, the day before yesterday Sunday in Algiers, that this gathering aims “to support the ICC and its independence, in the face of pressure exerted by supporters of the genocide committed in the Gaza Strip,” he underlined.
The Palestinian lawyer added that this mobilization also constitutes an opportunity to “reaffirm the importance of trying Zionist war criminals for the acts of genocide and displacement committed in the Gaza Strip over the past two years.” In this context, he expressed his gratitude to Algeria, President, Government and people, for “its sustained efforts in favor of the Palestinian cause in international forums, notably in the Security Council, and for having carried the voice and the sufferings of the Palestinian people”.
Wassim El-Chenti also praised the role of the Algiers Bar Association in pursuing Zionist war criminals through complaints filed with the ICC.
Furthermore, by organizing a rally in front of the Court of Algiers, the Algiers Bar Association wanted to demonstrate its total solidarity for the defense of the ICC and in support of the rights of Palestinian civilian victims of the genocide as well as the prosecution of Zionist war criminals.
An initiative which, it should be remembered, will be followed by the initiation of a petition which will very soon be transmitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to accelerate the investigation against the genocidal occupying army.
