On the occasion of the start of the academic year, the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB) set up an original initiative to support its new students. Upon their arrival, the latter were able to benefit from the experience and advice of former graduates who have today become players in the socio-economic world.
Professionals from the various promotions of the USTHB intervened in the amphitheatres through short presentations, said a statement made public by the rectorate of the university. The objective is to encourage, motivate and especially show the new registrants the perspectives that open up to them in terms of employability and wealth creation. Interventions have covered a wide range of disciplines, ranging from mathematics to computer science, including physics, chemistry, biology, mechanical, civil, electric engineering, as well as earth sciences, geography and regional planning.
The operation, launched on the second day of the start of the school year, allowed students to better understand the strategic importance of their sectors in the country’s socio-economic development. It also highlighted their central role in innovation and entrepreneurship dynamics. An approach that is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aimed at transforming student projects and research results into concrete solutions with high economic potential.
In continuity, the USTHB plans to organize, during the month of October, a series of conferences in its nine faculties. These meetings will make it possible to present to students the entrepreneurial and scientific ecosystem of the university, concentrated in particular at the level of the startup’s hall. This space brings together several strategic structures, such as the Center for Support for Technology and Innovation (CATI), in partnership with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), two incubators, the Entrepreneurship Development Center (CDE), as well as the University-Liaison-Bureau (Blue).
With this new approach, the USTHB confirms its desire to bring together academic and professional world training, while instilling in its students a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
