Mali has expelled the Swedish ambassador after Sweden cut its aid to the country in response to Mali’s deteriorating relationship with Ukraine.
Sweden stated that “it is impossible to support Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine while receiving several hundred million kroner in development aid each year.” Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these remarks as a “hostile statement.”
