A new step in the digitization of public services in Algeria has just been crossed with the imminent launch of the digital platform ” Markabati ” (Markabati.dz), dedicated to making appointments for compliance control of imported vehicles. The announcement was made by the director general of mines at the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Ms. Nadjiba Bourenane Fedal, who stressed that this tool will reduce the processing time per vehicle to only 20 minutes.
In a declaration to the official agency, the manager explained that this platform aims to better program the files, to fluidify the procedure and to put an end to the long queues before the control centers. The system will be launched at first at the center of the carobier (Algiers), before being gradually extended to all the wilayas. This project is part of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in terms of digitization and improving the quality of public services.
“The ministry spares no effort to facilitate citizens the compliance procedure and improve the level of services,” insisted Ms. Bourenane Fedal. Concretely, anyone who imported a vehicle may, via ” Markabati ”, reserve a passing niche with a mines expert. The confirmation, transmitted by e-mail, will indicate the date of the appointment, the list of documents required and a QR code allowing access to the control center directly. Only the owner of the vehicle, identified thanks to this code, will be empowered to present itself, which guarantees transparency and traceability. The platform will also offer the possibility of following online the course of compliance control and its different stages.
A second phase provides for the dematerialized issuance of the compliance report, further strengthening the digitalization of the procedure.
In order to support the launch of the operation at the Caroubier, five additional experts have been detached from other wilayas, which will treat up to 110 vehicles per day. This increased capacity should meet growing demand and provide a service “without queues or intermediaries,” said the manager. In parallel, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines works, in coordination with that of the Interior and Transport, to expand the skills of experts from neighboring wilayas like Boumerdès and Tipaza, in order to take charge of part of the vehicles registered in Algiers. The compliance control will concern all types of imported vehicles: passenger cars, utilities, bus, trucks, agricultural or road tractors, motorcycles and sets with trailer.
Since January 2025, Caroubier experts have already examined nearly 17,000 vehicles, including 5,800 cars under three and 6,300 new. The ministry also provides for the creation of a national importer file, identifying information on beneficiaries of compliance control.
