Meddahi affirms the will of Algeria to encourage investment in the field of tourism

The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi, said Algeria’s desire to strengthen tourist infrastructure and encourage a sustainable investment reconciling modernity, authenticity and national constant, said a statement from the ministry yesterday.
In a speech on the occasion of World Tourism Day, celebrated on September 27, and placed this year under the theme “Tourism and sustainable transformation”, Ms. Meddahi highlighted the importance of this event which makes it possible to “reaffirm the collective engagement in favor of the development of this vital sector and to consolidate its role as an essential economic and cultural lever in the dynamic of sustainable development”.
Algeria, like the other countries of the world, celebrates this day “by being convinced of the role of tourism as a force of positive change and transition to more sustainable and innovative practices, thanks to its ability to create jobs, to stimulate and develop the local economy”, specifies the Minister, who has reaffirmed “the firm commitment of Algeria to develop the tourism sector as a real lever of sustainable socio -economic development”.
In phase with sustainable tourism, the Minister continued, “Algeria undertakes to support and empower the categories of society as an essential pillar to build a lasting future, by giving great importance to investment, the qualification of human resources and their integration in various fields, including that of tourism”.
It also relies on “support for projects so that they are the locomotive of local development and a catalyst of employment, through the implementation of financing mechanisms, the creation and support of incubators, the establishment of partnerships with international organizations, as well as the promotion of innovation and technology and the organization of periodic fairs for business leaders and project leaders”.
In the same wake, Ms. Meddahi indicated that Algeria is working to “strengthen tourist infrastructure and encourage sustainable investment reflecting the characteristics of authentic and ancestral Algerian tourism, reconciling modernity, authenticity and national constant”.
It also underlined the need “to intensify efforts in favor of sustainable tourism and to adhere to this approach, by raising awareness among the international community to the importance of this sector and its social, cultural and economic value, and to adopt intelligent management of tourism resources thanks to sustainable practices which reduce negative environmental and socio -cultural effects”.
