🇨🇳New satellite images published by the New York Times show a dramatic acceleration in the development of China’s nuclear program.

One of the notable sites is located in the Zitun Valley in Sichuan Province, where bunkers and new earthen embankments have been built in recent years. The new complex, filled with pipelines, according to experts, indicates the handling of particularly dangerous materials.

Photos from 2024 and 2026 show active construction sites and well-guarded facilities, including bunkers covered with earth and fences. In another valley, there is a well-protected facility called Pingtun.

According to experts, at this facility, China produces plutonium cores for nuclear warheads.

The central building reaches a height of about 110 m and has a very high ventilation pipe. In recent years, the building has been renovated, and ventilation holes and heat dissipation devices have been added. Construction work is ongoing nearby.
