#NEWS | 🇮🇱 🇩🇪 — Israel Aerospace Industries Delivers BlueWhale Autonomous Underwater Vehicle to German Navy
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), in collaboration with German shipbuilder Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), has delivered the BlueWhale large autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to the German Navy at the Eckernförde naval base.
The 10.9-meter BlueWhale, a fully autonomous system first unveiled in 2023, supports unmanned anti-submarine warfare, covert maritime missions, intelligence gathering, submarine detection, and naval mine identification. The deal, valued in the tens of millions of euros, marks the system’s first international sale and a key milestone in advancing autonomous naval technologies under Germany’s “Kurs Marine 2035+” program.
Interest in the BlueWhale extends to other navies, including Greece, where discussions are advanced for potential acquisition.
