« Nous construisons l’avenir de la mobilité et de l’industrie en Algérie »

“We build the future of mobility and industry in Algeria”

Samir Cherfan, Director of Stellantis operations for the MENA region:

Samir Cherfan, director of operations of Stellantis for the Mena region (Middle East & Africa) praised, Thursday in a post published on Linkedin, the advances recorded at the Fiat factory, located in Tafraoui, in the wilaya of Oran.
“In the past few weeks, we have taken historical steps,” he wrote, evoking the production of the first CKD (Complelly Knocked Down) vehicle in Algeria, an additional step compared to the SKD (Semi Knocked Down), where vehicles are already partially assembled. Showing that this historical achievement was made possible thanks to the excellence of our staff.
The second step crossed, he continued, concerns the completion of welding and paint facilities, which now make it possible to produce the first prototypes of the Fiat Grande Panda, before the launch of production in series. Finding that the Grande Panda, whose official launch took place on September 4 at the Algiers test garden, thus becomes the fourth model of Fiat produced and sold in Algeria, after the Fiat 500 Hybrid and the two versions of Doblo, utility and tourist. Finding that series production is scheduled for the coming months, with the first expected preseie units before the end of September. With, announced Fiat, a local integration rate of 20 %, with the aim of reaching more than 30 % by 2026.
This step, estimated the same official, goes beyond the technique. “Each stamped bodywork and each painted panel are more than a simple technical feat. They symbolize Algerian know-how, precision and resilience, “he added. “We are not sure to produce cars in Tafraoui,” said Samir Cherfan, we build the future of mobility and industry in Algeria, in collaboration with our teams and our partners. “
In early September in early September, Fiat Algeria, of the Stellantis group, presented the Grande Panda, the next model that will be produced at the Tafraoui factory, during an event organized at the Hamma test garden in Algiers, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Salem Ahmed Zayed, CEO of the Fiat brand, Olivier François, and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Middle East & Africa, Samir Cherfan. “Today marks a historic stage for Stellantis as for Algeria. With the Fiat Grande Panda, we are not only presenting a vehicle designed to meet the needs of Algerian families, but we also launch the first CKD production in the history of the country, “said Samir Cherfan. Finding that this achievement illustrates our long -term commitment to support the industrial sovereignty of Algeria and to develop a sustainable and competitive automotive industry, creator of value for Algerian society.
