« Nous continuerons la lutte sur tous les plans »

“We will continue the fight on all levels”

His Excellency Mohamed Fadli Boulahi at the New Republic:

His Excellency Mohamed Fadli Boulahi is Ambassador and Managing Director in charge of Europe at the Sahrawi Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the occasion of his presence at the Polisario summer university, which currently takes place in Boumerdès, he wanted to grant our newspaper an interview, at the end of which he gave an overview of the situation in the occupied territories, and the abuses of which the Sahrawi people are the subject of the Moroccan occupation authorities.

Mohsen Abdelmoumen: Can you tell us about the situation that prevails at the moment in the occupied territories of Western Sahara?

Boulahi Mohamed Fadli: In the occupied territories of Western Sahara, the situation continues to be difficult. Since the Moroccan invasion of Western Sahara in 1975, the Moroccan occupation authorities have continued to systematically violate human rights in Western Sahara, to imprison and oppress the Sahrawi population in the occupied territories, especially the activists who peacefully demand the right of the Sahrawi people to independence and self -determination. And this in total impunity. The international community has not protected and has not conducted actions to protect Sahrawi civilians who continue to be exposed to systematic human rights violations committed by the Moroccan occupation authorities.

We are currently at the Summer University of Polisario executives in Boumerdès. What can you tell us about this summer university?

The summer university in its 13th edition is of extreme importance compared to the executives of the Sahrawi Republic and the Polisario Front. On this occasion, we would like to express our gratitude to Algeria and the University of Boumerdès which allow us to deepen and improve our knowledge to be able to carry out our fight against the Moroccan occupation by bringing to Sahrawi executives the possibility of being better trained and informed to continue the struggle until independence. I would like to point out, concerning the occupied territories, that Morocco continues to plunder the riches of the Sahrawi people to the detriment of all the conventions and rules of international bodies.

About the noble and just fight of the Sahrawi people, don’t you think that the only way you have left is the armed struggle? And what do you think of the low maneuvers of the rogue entity of Morocco?

Faced with the maneuvers carried out by the Moroccan government and the intransigence which characterizes the Moroccan position during all the phases of the negotiations, the Polisario Front has made the decision since 2020 to resume the armed struggle to impose the will of the Sahrawi people. Faced with the violations of the ceasefire on November 13, 2020 perpetrated by the Moroccan government and the Moroccan army, the Polisario Front resumed the armed struggle and we will continue to fight on all fronts until the Sahrawi people can benefit from their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

Is there a new Polisario Front strategy?

The strategy of the Polisario Front consists of struggle on all fronts: military, diplomatic, political, and cultural. All the Sahrawi people is determined to carry out their fight on all fronts and by all the available and legitimate means.

Algeria has always supported the cause of the Sahrawi people and the cause of the Palestinian people, who are just causes. What can you tell us about the commitment to you in our country, State and people?

It is indisputable. The position of Algeria is of public notoriety. She is not hidden. Algeria has never abandoned the Sahrawi people and the Palestinian people.
Algeria is an ally of the Sahrawi cause which helps us and supports us in international institutions and lends us all the help necessary to carry out our legitimate fight. We are indebted to him.

Can you inform us about the future actions you plan to program?

We will continue the struggle on all levels.
