A unifying president.

As expected, the National Democratic Rally and the El-Moustakbel Front separately called this Saturday on the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to run for a second term as supreme magistrate.

These calls come a few days after the public announcement of two other political parties, the El-Bina movement and the National Liberation Front, regarding support for the candidacy of President Tebboune in the next early presidential election, scheduled for September 7.

The RND’s decision was taken during the extraordinary session of the party’s National Council, which was held yesterday in Zéralda, west of the capital.

In his speech, the secretary general of the RND, Mustapha Yahi, stressed that the decision was taken “after evaluating the achievements of the President of the Republic during this presidential term”.

A mandate characterized by “profound reforms resulting in a living environment marked by serenity, stability and hope”, adding that this call is also founded following the “completion of the institutional building and the establishment of an environment conducive to investment and the launch of structuring strategic projects to strengthen the economy.”

Orientations that the RND supports, in particular “the social character of the policy pursued by the President of the Republic, which aims to preserve the dignity of vulnerable sectors of society and to ensure a decent life for citizens by preserving their purchasing power “.

For the head of the RND, “current circumstances require a man of consensus during the presidential election, and the man of consensus must ensure the continuation of reforms and the preservation of social achievements”, adding that his party supports “the social orientation of the policy carried out by the President of the Republic, which aims to protect the vulnerable classes of society and to ensure a decent life for citizens, while maintaining their purchasing power.

For its part, the El-Moustakbal Front announced this Saturday, on the sidelines of the work of an extraordinary session of the National Council organized at the Higher School of Hotels and Catering in Aïn Benian, to support the re-election of President Tebboune for a second term.

The party’s president, Fethi Boutbig, affirmed, in a press conference, that this position is dictated by “the conviction that President Tebboune is the right man to lead the country during the next five-year term, so that he can continue the process of reforms that he started to build the new Algeria, far from all political dissensions.”

He specified that this decision was taken in the interest of Algeria, State and people. He added that the party is calling on its activists to participate massively in the presidential election and to guarantee its success.

In the same wake, another party also called on the head of state to run for a second term. This is the Voice of the People Party which, in a public declaration following an extraordinary session of its central committee, called on President Tebboune to run as a candidate.

The president of this formation, Lamine Osmani, estimated that the supreme interest of the country dictates continuity and stability in the highest office of the State, affirming that this decision emanates from a conviction that the Head of State has made significant progress in the economic, social, political and diplomatic fields.

According to Mr. Osmani, “the President of the Republic needs a mandate to carry out his reforms and prepare for the passing of the torch to the post-independence generation.”

It should be noted that, until now, the outgoing President has not yet announced his candidacy for the anticipated presidential election on September 7. Two weeks ago, he signed the presidential decree convening the electoral body.
