New perspective for the development of logistics infrastructures

LOGITRANS-APRC agreement

The APRC Group, a major French player in productive and sustainable real estate, specializing in the design and construction of tailor-made projects, and the Logitrans Group, a major national player in transport and logistics in Algeria, have put an end to a dispute which lasted more than ten years, by signing an agreement to develop joint logistics projects. The prospect of development of logistics infrastructures opened up by this agreement is good news for the national economy.

This remarkable fact confirms the commitment of these economic partners, with the support of the authorities, to promote local development and to modernize the transport and logistics system, in the service of the major objectives of economic recovery. For the Chairman and CEO of the APRC Group, Karim Abdellaoui, this is a “historic date”.
While speaking at the official signing ceremony of the agreement, he expressed, on behalf of his Group, “his entire and sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Mr. President of the Republic, for having responded favorably to the continuation of this project, in particular the message sent to members of the diaspora to believe in their country and invest massively in this direction in terms of the opportunities offered.”
He also thanked the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, for his personal commitment, his vision and the firmness of his mediation “to unblock a situation that many believed, I say frankly, irreversible. Addressing the Minister, the CEO of the APRC Group reiterates his thanks: “You have offered our two companies the perspective and the means of a rebirth. Thank you for your trust and understanding.”
He wanted to “send a message of recognition and outstretched hand to my friend, the president of Logitrans. Our discussions, sometimes difficult, have always been guided by a common objective, to breathe new life into this jewel that our joint venture represents. Today, we are turning a major page in our history together. We do not forget it, but we deliberately choose to look to the future.”
For Karim Abdellaoui, the signing of the agreement is “the starting point of a new adventure based on renewed trust and a unified vision”.
He expresses his conviction that “we are now aligned to structure an efficient, modern logistics industry that truly serves the national economy. The benefits of this restart will be significant and APRC GROUPE will put all its expertise, all its determination and all its faith into it.”
Addressing “our respective teams, who have kept hope intact, despite the years of uncertainty”, he affirms “the best is yet to come. You can count on our unfailing commitment to write, with our partners at Logitrans, a brilliant chapter in our common future.”
He concludes: “On this eve of November 1, the symbolism is strong to overcome any dispute, in the service of the national economy, to build a great and powerful ALGERIA.” The agreement signing ceremony took place during an official event, in the presence of Djamel Eddine Abdelghani Dridi, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Said Arabat, President and CEO of the Logitrans group for land transport of goods, and Ms. Zina Djab El Khir, President of the Board of Directors of SNTR (National Road Works Company). The interest of the joint venture is to constitute a national network of logistics and distribution platforms throughout the national territory. APRC Group believes that the completion of this major project will generate a series of benefits: increased tax revenue (thanks to the financial traceability of goods); impact on the logistics landscape; transfer of know-how; securing supplies; skills development.
Everything indicates that this project will come to fruition and result in a promising future, a future based on logistics platforms, pillars of the Algerian economy and guarantors of its economic future, thanks to the implementation of logistics projects which would reduce transport costs, and therefore benefit the national economy, and strengthen development in a vital and essential sector.

Algeria’s needs
From December 2, 2024, following the executive committee of the APRC group held in Lyon, Karim Abdellaoui will assume the role of CEO of the APRC Group. APRC presents itself as a major player in productive and sustainable real estate, specializing in the design and construction of tailor-made projects.
Logistics, retail, industry, activity… With an integrated engineering approach, APRC supports its clients at each stage, from land research to turnkey delivery through program design.
On the APRC website, we can read that the company stands out for its multidisciplinary expertise: internal teams made up of architects, structural engineers, BIM managers, environmental and energy engineers, biodiversity specialists, construction economists and work managers; through economic transparency: processes imbued with transparency, ensuring commitment to quality, optimization of purchases, announcement of margins charged and compliance with deadlines; and through specialization, foresight: a unique vision of logistics and corporate real estate, anticipating changes in consumption patterns and ensuring the adaptability of buildings from their design.
For APRC Group, the user is at the heart of its approach, usage a permanent concern.
He believes that development favoring a mix of uses and the complementarity of typologies in the service of the economic development project are an essential course of action at a time when public and private mobilization are both called upon to serve the reindustrialization of the country.
As a reminder, in 2015, a joint Algerian-French company was created to develop the logistics distribution network in Algeria, between the National Road Transport Company (SNTR) and APRC Group (France). According to the diagnosis established by APRC Group, “the performance of the Algerian logistics network is, as a whole, at a very intermediate stage. This stage, characteristic of emerging countries, is very inherent in a lack of specialized structures and infrastructure.
Algeria therefore needs to very quickly provide the necessary responses to the problems of managing the flow of goods to meet the needs of its economy.”
These are, continues APRC Group, distribution platforms, agro-marketing and industrial platforms, tri-modal port platforms, import/
export (carried out in ports, or in the immediate vicinity, and near land borders, Libya, Mali, Niger and Mauritania).
