Opérations d’envergure des forces de sécurité dans plusieurs régions du pays

Large-scale operations by security forces in several regions of the country

Fight against crime and “urban terrorism”:

The security forces have launched several large-scale operations in several regions of the country in order to establish security and serenity and ensure the safety of property and people. The inhabitants of the regions targeted by these police raids welcomed the intervention of the police and hope that these operations will continue until the total eradication of the neighborhood gangs which sow terror among the population.

It all started with the sharing on social networks of several videos on social networks showing horrible scenes of violence committed by gangs of dangerous criminals, brutalizing and threatening, using bladed weapons, young and old people and even people at very advanced ages. Terrifying scenes of extreme violence, worthy of organized crime and urban terrorism, have plunged the inhabitants of several regions of the country into fear and disarray. The last affair of its kind happened in the daïra of Bou Ismaïl in Tipaza.
A peaceful town where an individual calling himself ”Hicham el Wahrani” and a few thugs organized themselves into a gang and sowed terror among the citizens for several weeks. This state of affairs forced the security forces to deploy and intervene in order to arrest the accused so that they can be brought to justice.
These scenes of violence took place in several cities across the country, notably in Oran, Annaba, Sétif, Khenchela, Ouargla and in several other regions. The “problem” is that the perpetrators of this violence do not hide, on the contrary, they come out in the open and defy not only their victims but the local authorities. Elements of these groups were filmed brandishing bladed weapons and uttering insults to citizens indicating that they were not afraid of anyone.
This is the case of a thug who filmed himself harassing young defenseless students while throwing vulgar words at them. One young girl even begged her attacker numerous times to leave her alone, but to no avail. “Please let me go, I’m going to file a complaint against you,” the victim told the attacker. Without faith or law, the thug takes a video and responds to his victim: “I think you don’t know me yet, I’m the State, look how many Internet users follow me,” the attacker replied to the young girl.
The video was shared by thousands of Internet users and caused a lot of ink to flow. Hundreds of comments were posted on Facebook, Instagram, Tik-tok and other social media pages. The authors of the comments took aim at the attacker and called on the country’s top authorities to intervene to arrest him.
After the video was broadcast on social networks, the attacker was reportedly arrested by the security services to the great satisfaction of citizens.
In Oran, scenes of violence were also filmed and posted on social networks. Through these videos we can see groups of individuals
attacking people in the street using swords, sticks and several bladed weapons. In one of the videos, a group attacked residents of a neighborhood and even entered homes. The response from Internet users was instantaneous, they denounced this violence and called on the local authorities in the city of Oran.
In Khenchela, Internet users warned citizens, particularly women and the elderly, of the risk of being attacked by mafia groups operating in the wilaya capital and in the town of Kais and Bouhmama. The most violent groups reside in an overpopulated city “Haï Nour” better known as “Texas City”. Several cases of violence were reported on the Baghai road, citizens said. In Khenchela and more precisely in the 748 housing units (Trig El Aizer) very violent groups sowed terror only two days ago.
According to residents, groups in the commune of Ensigha clashed with stones forcing citizens to enter their homes. Through social networks, Internet users have warned citizens asking them to be careful in the places indicated above. Still in the wilaya of Khenchela, groups of criminals were also reported by Internet users.

Bou-Ismaïl’s ”Rombo”
sows terror among the population
The straw that broke the camel’s back was the horror scene which took place in an apartment in Bou-Ismaïl in the wilaya of Tipasa. It is in this city where the largest police intervention took place and more precisely in the so-called “Lombar” district. In the video, a thug holding a large sword in his hand insults and attacks a young person sitting on a mattress. The victim, along with another young person, was attacked by an individual given by the leader of the Gang, better known as ”Hicham l’Oranais”. After the video was broadcast on social media pages, thousands of Internet users called on the security services to intervene. A vast search operation was launched at the end of the evening to arrest this dangerous gang leader. On a page of Tipaza’s social networks, we can read the following: “Many of us followed with shock and indignation the video broadcast on social networks, in which the individual named Hicham (known as “the Oranais”) appears with a group of criminals in the town of Bou-Ismaïl, brutalizing a young man and dragging him to the ground in a terrifying scene that goes against all human, moral and legal values. Furthermore, it appears that the main aggressor attempted to commit an indecent act with threats and violence. Worse still, the individual in question brandished a bladed weapon (a saber), threatening her in an ostentatious manner, which testifies to his criminal impunity and his contempt for the law, making the incident a complex crime including physical violence, armed threats and attempted rape. This heinous criminal act can only be confronted with the highest degree of legal rigor, due to the danger it represents for the security of society and the safety of its members.
The incident also raises serious questions about the circumstances of the video’s release and the responsibility of those who filmed it without immediately intervening or reporting the crime. Continuing the story of these acts of violence, the owners of the ”Tipasa-info” page indicated that the Algerians who watched the video expressed in their comments their indignation and anger at these brutalities. Several Internet users asked the country’s authorities for strict application of the law without any leniency towards the guilty, while insisting on the need to review the mechanisms of presidential pardon granted to certain detainees on the occasion of national holidays. Presidential pardons should not affect individuals involved in crimes of violence or physical assault. At present, several sources indicate that the gang leader was arrested with several of his accomplices and that the public prosecutor of the daïra of Bou-Ismaïl will give a press conference on this subject. At the time of going to press, we have not been able to confirm this information or the number of individuals arrested. We will come back to this.
