Regarding the Dec. 13 front-page article “Plea for Ukraine falls flat on Hill”:
The decision by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) not to fund Ukraine’s defense is so shortsighted that it beggars belief. Should Russia prevail in Ukraine, freedom will be extinguished not only in that country but also potentially in others on which Russian President Vladimir Putin sets his sights.
It’s beyond ironic that the GOP — which was once in the vanguard of resisting Russian aggression — has now turned into Mr. Putin’s lap dog. But, of course, that’s because it’s also former president Donald Trump’s lap dog, and he has trashed everyone and everything, but somehow has never had anything but kind words for Mr. Putin.
