The wilaya of Oran implements a vast program intended to modernize and strengthen its hydraulic infrastructure, in particular wastewater treatment plants. Inspected this week by local authorities, these projects aim to increase treatment capacity and reuse treated waters for agricultural irrigation, in order to support local production and preserve conventional water resources.
The local authorities, accompanied by executive managers and technical executives, have reviewed various projects and projects, ranging from the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure to the presentation of new achievements envisaged in several municipalities.
The visit began at Cap Falcon station, which already feeds the farmers in Bousfer and El Ançor with irrigation waters. The project plans to strengthen its capacities, which will extend the irrigated surface of an additional 720 ha for the benefit of farmers.
A particular emphasis has been placed on the importance of this work, which responds to the instructions of the President of the Republic aimed at increasing the effectiveness of treatment stations and ensuring sustainable supply for the agricultural sector.
The delegation then went to the CAP Blanc station, where the work displayed a 93%progress rate, with an expected commissioning before the end of the year. In the El Hassi district, the situation was examined on the ground and the realization of a new sanitation network has been proposed.
Not far from the El Hassi Cancer Hospital, another project was suggested: the creation of a water treatment station in order to meet the specific needs of the area.
At the Urban Pole Chahid Ahmed Zabana, under the AADL program, the delegation inspected the drainage site for rainwater, still in progress. At the Boumadhel farm, located in Aïn El Beïda in the commune of ES-Senia, two pumping and spill projects were proposed to improve the treatment of the sanitation network.
The visit continued at the El Kerma station, where the rehabilitation works are taking place. The treated waters from this installation will be intended for agricultural irrigation, thus strengthening the availability of resources for farms.
Finally, the tour ended at the Small Sebkha station, where the rehabilitation site for hydraulic and electronic equipment is underway.
These projects reflect the will of the local authorities to strengthen wastewater treatment capacities, to modernize existing equipment and to promote the reuse of this resource in agriculture, contributing both to economic development and to the preservation of the environment.
