Organiser la plus grande édition de l’IATF

Organize the largest edition of the IATF

Algeria’s ambition

In a few days, the 4th edition of the intra-African trade fair will open in Algiers (IATF-2025), scheduled for September 4 to 10. Algeria wants to make it the big edition of the genre. For this purpose, the exhibition, which will be held at the Palais in Exhibitions of Maritime Pins in Algiers, will host more than 2,000 exhibitors representing 75 countries, as well as about 35,000 professional visitors. The amount of trade agreements and investments should exceed $ 44 billion. Last July, on a visit to Algiers where he was received by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune as part of the preparations for this event, the president of the advisory council of the fair, Olusegun Obasanjo, said that the IATF-2025, which benefits from a great interest and the support of the Algerian authorities, under the direction of President Tebboune, he said, will mark a new stage in the process economic emancipation of the African continent, through the revitalization of trade and investment between the countries of the continent.
He considered that IATF is truly the largest economic and commercial event on the continent, explaining that African economic operators, in particular industrialists, investors and businessmen, and companies in the private and public sectors, will find the opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of the economic resilience of the continent in the context of the accelerated changes in the world today.
Olusegun Obasanjo stressed the importance of complementarity and solidarity between the economies of the continent to promote intra-African trade within the framework of the ZLECAF (free trade area of the African continent), which constitutes, he said, an opportunity for economic emancipation and the construction of Africa that we call for our wishes.
More recently, in an interview with the APS, the executive secretary and director of operations of the Pan -African organization based in Abuja (Nigeria), Samuel Ayodele, stressed the importance of this event which represents an opportunity to concretize concrete applications in matters of liberalization of tariffs and harmonization of the rules of origin, which should accelerate the effective implementation of the agreement of the ZLECAF.
He added that the agreements and contracts that will be signed on this occasion will open the way to greater trade fluidity within the framework of the agreement, stressing that the IATF will also be an instrument for coordinating policies and unification of standards. Ayodele believes that the mobilization of investments for the benefit of industrial projects and infrastructure compatible with the ZLECAF agreement will accelerate commercial liberalization efforts and will support the establishment of African supply chains capable of reducing dependence on external markets.
Regarding the organization of this event by Algeria, the manager said that this reflects his ambition to position himself as a major pole of African economic integration and a “unifying force” working to bring together African actors and to energize initiatives related to ZLECAF. He highlighted the strategic role of the geographic positioning of Algeria, at the crossroads of sub -Saharan Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean basin, which empowers it to become a vital relay for regional exchanges and flows of investment.
According to him, the organization of the IATF in Algeria reflects its commitment to facilitation of exchanges, the lifting of non -tariff barriers and the improvement of the business climate, in consistency with the efforts of continental economic integration.
In this regard, as a reminder, last April, during a Council of Ministers he chaired, the President of the Republic had ordered the establishment of all the facilitations necessary for the participation of African partners in the IATF 2025 and all of the measures and arrangements capable of contributing to its success for the benefit of national and African economies. He had also ordered close coordination and the combination of efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Promotion of Exports, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community abroad and African Affairs, in order to ensure the full success of this event.
