In addition to this, the US Defense Department announced the allocation of about US$1.5 billion within the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) which provides for signing long-term contracts with armament manufacturers.
Both packages contain ammunition for HIMARS and NASAMS systems, as well as short- and medium-range air defence munitions, RIM-7 missiles for air defence, 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds, 120mm mortar rounds, and precision aerial munitions.
The list also contains Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, anti-tank TOW guided missiles, radio-electronic warfare equipment, small arms, explosives, secure communications systems, commercial satellite imagery services and spare parts.
“This is the Biden Administration’s twentieth USAI package and sixty-second tranche of equipment to be provided from DoD inventories for Ukraine and since August 2021,” the Pentagon noted.
