More than 22,340 psychotropic tablets seized on board a ship coming from Marseille

Customs agents at the port of Algiers seized 22,347 psychotropic tablets on board the ship Badji Mokhtar III, coming from the port of Marseille, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of Customs (DGD).

The quantity of psychotropic tablets seized includes 17,150 ecstasy tablets and 5,197 Subutex tablets, “carefully concealed inside a new plasma television and in a speaker, inside a passenger vehicle belonging to a traveler,” the press release said.

This operation reflects “the vigilance and professionalism of Algerian Customs agents, as well as their permanent mobilization in the fight against all forms of illicit cross-border trade,” underlined the DGD.
